HIV Counseling, Testing and Referral (CTR) Services

LIAAC's mobile outreach program provides HIV Counseling, Testing, and Referral (CTR) services to Long Island's underserved communities targeting high-risk individuals such as, substance users, Injection Drug Users (IDUs), Men who have Sex with Men (MSM), persons who exchange sex for money/drugs, persons who have unprotected sex with people who are at high risk (or with multiple sex partners), and/or persons living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) regardless of race or ethnicity.

LIAAC provides confidential and free HIV testing with OraQuick® Advance Rapid HIV-1/2 Antibody Test. The person receives their preliminary test results in 20 minutes along with comprehensive pre and post-test HIV counseling. For individuals who test preliminary positive, a confirmatory test will immediately follow with an OraSure® HIV-1 Oral Fluid Specimen Device. All individuals who receive testing are offered referrals based on their needs, regardless of their HIV status. Project Safety Net offers an array of referrals to clients including primary health care, mental health care, supportive services such as nutrition assistance, comprehensive risk counseling services, and fast track admittance into a substance abuse treatment facility. In addition, professional staff facilitates confidential Hepatitis C testing in its mobile staffing.
